The Dinner Party
So after my Israel trip, I felt inspired to host a Shabbat dinner for Birthright alumni in Louisville. What the heck, great excuse to cook and I might meet some other Jewish people my age along the way- seriously, I think they've been hiding the last two years.
A week after the initial invite, and the guest list was 6... nice, manageable number... I have enough plates for 8. The menu will be pretty simple- fettuccine alfredo with green salad. The fun part is that I'm making everything, pasta included, from scratch.
It's T-minus 4 days until the party, and I just found out that my guest list has grown to 15. That's 5 pounds of pasta, 2 loaves of challah, and 4 bags of salad. Not to mention, where the hell are they all going to fit in my one bedroom apartment? If I cook the pasta in two pots and put some people on the couch, I guess it can work. Thank god for my new mixer. Will keep you posted.

FIRST of all Miss Anna, this is Ali. From the trip, haha. I found your blog because I literally made a mental note to find it after our activity when you mentioned the URL! So hi. :)
Secondly, you're hosting a Shabbat!! So fun. All us Los Angelenos did it at Ari's house this past weekend (I hosted...at Ari's, because THAT makes a whole lotta sense) and we had the best time. I can't wait to hear all about yours!
Love to Sarah. Hope all is well!

Hi Anna,
Looking forward to hearing how the dinner party went yesterday.
We're frantically unpacking here because it's the Boy's dad's birthday tomorrow and we invited his parents over for lunch (we're making oven-baked ribs that take 2 days to make). Boy and I have more boxes of books than anything else in our house.
Becky
